Synopsis
This Kind Of Hope tells the story of diplomat Andrei Sannikov, who negotiated the disarmament of Belarus’ huge nuclear arsenal after the collapse of the Soviet Union, quit his job in protest under President Lukashenko and embarked on the dangerous path of opposition. After the eerie death of his closest colleague, he stood against Lukashenko as a presidential candidate, but the elections were rigged, Andrei Sannikov was arrested, tortured and put in solitary confinement. Today he lives in forced exile in Warsaw and continues to fight for his dream: a free and democratic Belarus.
